About a week and a half ago, we went on a mini adventure off to the local apple orchard. Our mission, to procure apples so Gammie could do her magic and make apple pie. What is autumn without some apple pie? We loaded the jeeple up and the way we went, in search of baskets and baskets of apples.
It was a nice, warm fall day and we all love a good farm and market store. Naturally, the women folk had to 'shop' apples and decide on just what they wanted. Me? I said lets just get a bunch and make some pie! But of course we shopped the apples and the store. Middle Sheeple had to acquire some apple cider and I had my eye on those donuts.
Our mission was successful. The tyke wanted go pick apples, he loves picking cherries, and was disappointed we couldn't help the farmer. I took him out back, he was bouncing with excitement, so we could go look out toward the river and the swamp. I got some good pics of that I'll have to post, just the right kind of eerie as the sun was going down.
I did get the tyke to pose in front of the wagon, I even got a pic of better 1/2 by the wagon and gammie going down a slide in the playground. Those pics are buried in the Mac and shall stay there, so I am told. The pics of tyke and his slide adventure were blurry, the kiddo moves too fast for our old camera.
There is nothing like going to an orchard and getting good old homegrown fruit. We love farmer's markets and stuff like that and try to get out there and get the good stuff as often as we can. In a hectic digital world, I think it is important we keep touch with the farm and with simpler, truer times.
Happy Wanderings!
